SA Fashion Week’s Autumn Winter 2013 Collections got off to a glamorous start in Johannesburg on Wednesday night with a fusion of fashion and fabulously styled hair.
The Motions and Tresemmé Sheer Glamour show presented some of the sassiest hairstyles of the season, and, from Thursday until Sunday, there will be a feast of fashion as 35 top designers show their collections in 12 shows, including Durban designers Amanda Laird Cherry, Karen Monk-Klijnstra, Colleen Eitzen and Andre Martin.
The KZN Fashion Council (KZNFC), in association with Trade and Investment KZN (TIKZN), will present a show on Friday night showcasing the designs of Kathrin Kidger, Bianca Warren and Hanrie Lues.
On Thursday night, the signature collections of six finalists, including Pietermaritzburg’s Cindy Leigh Armstrong, will feature in the Renault SA Fashion Week New Talent Search, a new SAFW initiative aimed at designers that have been in the industry for no longer than seven years. The winner will be announced at the show.
The Buyers’ Lounge will present established and emerging designers with an opportunity to display their garments and hopefully fill their order books and three KZN designers mentored by the KZNFC and TIKZN – Amanda Govender, Nishai Sookdhew and Trish Carmen Ntombela – will be displaying ranges.
