From 'Material Girl' to limited series: Madonna's iconic life set to become 'Vogue'

Madonna, the renowned American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress, is collaborating with Netflix and filmmaker Shawn Levy to create a limited series. This series will explore her eventful life for viewers.

This will not be the same as the planned biopic film about Madonna, which was to star actress Julia Garner as the music icon.

The biopic was previously under development at Universal Pictures and was co-written by Madonna. However, the project was cancelled when Madonna embarked on her Celebration World Tour in 2023.

Despite the cancellation of her planned biopic, announced shortly after confirming her worldwide Celebration tour, Madonna was reportedly still interested in having her life story adapted for the screen.

“I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world,” she said in 2020.

Now, she gets to tell her life story with Levy. Details about the limited series are still under wraps therefore it is unknown which specific period in the 66-year-old singer’s life and career will be the focus in the film. 

From her early days in Michigan with nothing but a dream and some change to her rise as the Queen of Pop, it includes her leaving college to take her first flight to New York in pursuit of music and dance.

Madonna’s journey to becoming an iconic artist is an inspiring story that many would want to see.

Fans can expect a deep dive into the part of her life Madonna decides to share. This collaboration between Madonna and Netflix is set to captivate audiences worldwide, offering a fresh look at the life of a music legend.

Meanwhile, fans can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation. 

“This makes sense, Madonna is too big a star just for a biopic. So much material for a limited series. I hope at least eight to ten episodes,” said X user @OrvilleLLoyd.

With Garner reportedly still the leading contender to play Madonna in the upcoming limited series and Levy on board as executive producer, the possibilities are endless.
