The South African entertainment industry will gather with friends and family of DJ Warras “Shady Lurker,” Warrick Stock for his memorial service.

The memorial service will take place at The Galleria (M1 Place, 10 Eastern Service Road, Marlboro, Sandton) at 11:00.

The 40-year-old radio personality and television host was murdered outside the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg on Tuesday, December 16.

The Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Councillor Dada Morero, confirmed that he will attend the memorial service.

On Thursday, the Johannesburg Executive Mayor visited the family home to personally convey his heartfelt condolences and offer comfort and support to Warrick’s mother, his children, and the entire family during this time of immense grief. 

“The City stands with them, holding their pain in our hearts. The City of Johannesburg mourns the tragic loss of a young life and extends its deepest sympathies to all those affected by this painful passing.

“We recognise the profound sorrow that touches not only family and friends, but everyone whose life Warrick touched with his kindness, talent, and unwavering spirit.”

The Executive Mayor assured the family and the public that the matter is receiving the necessary attention from law enforcement authorities and that the law must be allowed to take its full course.

Police in Gauteng have denied widespread reports and social media posts alleging that suspects have been taken in for questioning or arrested in connection with the murder of popular Johannesburg DJ and property activist Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras.

Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko told IOL News on Thursday morning that the investigation is continuing and that no suspects have been detained.

“There is no suspect taken for questioning or arrested. Investigation is continuing,” Sibeko told IOL.
