Despite the ups and downs they have faced together, Nonku Williams and Jojo Robinson continue to strengthen their bond.
Recently, Nonku took to Instagram to share a heartfelt appreciation post for her best friend, Jojo, who celebrated her birthday on December 30.
Friends and family showered Robinson with love on her special day, including castmates from The Real Housewives of Durban and Ultimate Girls Trip Africa, such as Princess Jecoco, Annie Mthembu, Sorisha Naidoo, Maria Valaskatzis, and the twins Ayanda Mthembu and Andile Pieterson.
The highlight of the birthday celebrations was Williamsâs touching message, which acknowledged their friendship and sisterhood.
Accompanied by a video montage showcasing precious moments from their onscreen friendship, known as "Joku", the post featured the soundtrack "Youâve Got a Friend" by Al Green and Billy Preston.
âHappy birthday to the one whoâs been etched in my heart for over five years, @mrs.jojo.robinson đđ. Iâve been searching for the right words all morning, trying to express just how much youâve impacted my life. The truth is, Jojo, youâve been more than just a friend - youâve been like a sister and a constant source of joy,â said Williams.
âWeâve laughed, weâve cried, weâve grown, and weâve navigated the ups and downs together. Iâm so grateful for that. Youâve taught me so much about love, kindness, and living life to the fullest. You bring out the child in me, and I love that about you.
"The memories weâve made are etched in my mind, and Iâll never forget them. I love you, Jojo, and Iâm so grateful for you. Thank you for being my rock, my friend, and my everything. Hereâs to many more adventures, laughter, and memories together! đâ¤ď¸,â she added.
Williamsâs post signals a reconciliation and a repair in their relationship after it was tested both on and off screen this year.
Following the season finale of RHOD in June, fans were left heartbroken when it was revealed that the pair had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
This split raised concerns about whether their five-year friendship could withstand the pressures of fame and personal growth.
In response to the breakup, Williams spoke to a local publication about their strained relationship.
"As I've deepened my faith, our paths have diverged. Jojo struggled to understand my spiritual growth and my call to share my faith with others. I believe it's my duty to spread the word about Christ, and I couldn't compromise on that. Unfortunately, our differences led to misunderstandings and blame being placed on others," she explained.
In the last episode of the reality show, Williams also expressed feeling a lack of a deeper spiritual connection with Robinson.
"I'm not placing blame but rather recognising that our journeys have taken different turns. I'm focusing on my purpose and relationship with God," she stated.
Throughout their friendship, Williams and Robinson faced scrutiny over the authenticity and depth of their bond.
They were often criticised for being performative and taking sides during cast disputes.
The strain in their relationship became evident when Williams announced she would not return to the show or film the reunion.
Following this announcement, Robinson posted a cryptic message alluding to the state of their friendship.
âThis isn't easy for me at the moment, but with the nature of TV, I can't share anything right now. I also don't know anything right now. I would prefer that my friendships be allowed SPACE TO BREATHE. It's a lot, guys. I need to figure things out.
"I've been in a friendship that has been under constant scrutiny from the public for years. We BOTH need some time and grace, so please allow us both that and don't assume anything right now,â she wrote.
After this period of reflection, the ladies reconciled, with Williams issuing an apology to Robinson.
âAs I reflect on my recent statement about my friendship with Jojo on the show, I want to take a moment to address the hurt and misunderstanding it may have caused,â she wrote.
âI never intended to denounce our friendship or diminish the value Jojo has brought to my life. I want to apologise for using the words âsurface levelâ when referring to my friendship with Jojo. In no way was I speaking about the love or bond we share; that was never my intention."
