Radio personality Penny Ntuli has opened up about her departure from Jozi FM after nearly two years on the show.
Ntuli announced her exit from the show on Facebook following speculation and concern among fans about her sudden absence from her usual slot on Monday.
The popular radio presenter had reportedly been absent from her usual 9am to 12pm show last week, leading to questions about her whereabouts.
Ntuli shared that she is moving on to greener pastures. She said the station's healthy and welcoming environment led to her extending her stay in Johannesburg beyond her initial plans. She took to Facebook to announce her departure.
“My journey with Jozi FM has come to an end. I came to Johannesburg thinking I'd work for the first six months and head back home, but here I am almost 2 years later, and that's just how healthy and welcoming the environment has been to me,” she wrote.
The award-winning radio personality further reflected on her journey on Jozi FM, expressing heartfelt gratitude to her colleagues for their patience and support.
She explained that broadcasting in multiple languages presented a challenge, but she received significant support from her audience and colleagues during her learning process as she tackled unfamiliar words and adapted to new language spaces.
“Also under Jozi FM's guidance, I am now a 2x Award Winning Radio Presenter in less than 2 years, and with that being said, it's time for me to grow on to greener pastures & new opportunities,” she added.
The 28-year-old joined the radio station in 2024 following her departure from Gagasi FM. Ntuli previously sparked controversy after she left the radio station over a disputed contract offer.
She disclosed on social media that Gagasi FM had offered her R2,800 a month for a three-hour show.
“It’s been an amazing two years there. I am grateful to be considered as one of the talents that have been given an opportunity to showcase their talents once again in the new season on your platform.
“However, the salary of R2 800 per month on my offer letter or contract is not something I can sustain my life with,” said Ntuli.
The public rallied behind Ntuli after she decided not to extend her contract with the Durban-based station.
