“Working with Naledi was amazing, she helped finish this song exactly how I had imagined,” said Umlazi-born singer-songwriter Sbahle, reflecting on her new single, “Ngitshele”.
The track, a collaboration with Naledi Aphiwe, is a romantic Afro-pop love song and marks a milestone in Sbahle’s journey as an artist, taking full creative control of her work.
Sbahle explained that from the beginning, she had Aphiwe in mind for the collaboration.
“Upon our first introduction, we shared that we both follow each other’s music and thought it would be great for our fans to experience both of us in one song. When I started working on ‘Ngitshele’, she was the only person I thought of.”
A central influence in Sbahle’s career has been her grandfather, who served as her mentor and protégé.
“I take my grandfather’s teachings with me everywhere,” she said.
“They shield me from a lot of things in the industry as a young woman, and I will forever be grateful.” His lessons in kindness and storytelling continue to shape her music, as well as the way she navigates her career.
The release of “Ngitshele” is accompanied by a campaign that reflects these values. Sbahle hopes it inspires her fans, particularly women, to embrace love and confidence.
“I made this song for my girls. I know that I have many male fans, but I want to see my girls in love with partners of their hearts' desire. This song encourages women to step out and make the first move.”
Looking ahead, Sbahle is preparing for the release of her debut album in April under her partnership with Ziiki Media.
She described the year as one of growth and creative exploration, building on the foundation her grandfather instilled in her.
