In the wake of her debut EP “N0rth4evr “, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter, North West, hit the stage for a surprise performance at "Rolling Loud" on Saturday, May 9.
The 12-year-old came on stage and performed what appeared to be an unreleased collaboration with 21-year-old rapper Molly Santana.
North’s performance went viral and has been circulating online, with many social media users clearly not impressed seeing a minor performing at an event for adults.
@callme_iconic commented: “Performing where kids her age can’t even attend should be the first red flag.”
Another thing that critics raised was her dressing aesthetic.
@therealdestinikierra wrote: “All I know is my daughter better not ask for no purple 30 inch bussdown.”
Others noted that critics should let North be, because when Beyoncé brings her children on stage, everyone applauds her, so it should be no different with her.
“Leave that little girl alone because when Blue Ivy and her little sister are on stage, everyone is happy,” @homefrontbigc added.
While North is being criticised for doing what she loves, she is busy carving out her own identity beyond the massive spotlight attached to her family name.
One thing’s for sure, she is stepping into her dad’s footsteps and becoming a superstar at a young age without caring what people on the internet say about her. Plus, she once said she doesn’t care about the online negativity.
Now, about her debut EP, the upcoming rapper and music producer has introduced a darker alternative rap sound.
This style is characterised by distorted production, emotional vocal effects and aesthetics that draw inspiration from internet culture.
The EP includes six songs, namely “H0w Sh0uld 1 f33l”, “D!e”, “#N0rth4evr”, “Th!s t!m3”, “W0ah”, “Aishite (愛して)”, which she produced herself, according to online reports.
The 6-track collection, released on May 1, is a mash-up of metal guitar riffs, autotune and punk-infused rap.

The EP follows up North’s single “Piercing on My Hand” in February and collaborations with FKA Twigs and her rapper father last year.
Before releasing her EP, the 12-year-old first released a music video for the track, “#N0rth4evr,” which dropped on April 30.
The music video's aesthetic clearly draws on early 2000s emo and punk styles. North is seen wearing fashion staples of the era, including striped arm sleeves, spiked wrist cuffs and Converse sneakers, with one scene featuring an early aughts iPod.
