Liquideep is officially back!

The South African duo, made up of Ziyon and Ryzor, will reunite on stage at the Hello Durban festival on Saturday, November 1, at the Greyville Racecourse in Durban.

Fans can expect to sing along to old classics while also getting a glimpse of what the duo is working on next.

Speaking to “Independent Media Lifestyle”, the duo reflected on their return.

“After more than a decade apart, we’ve been talking about this for a while now, and it finally felt right,” they said.

“Durban has always been close to our hearts. Funnily enough, our last show together before the break was also here. This moment feels like things are coming full circle. We’re both in a good place, personally and creatively, and it feels amazing to be back on stage again.”

Both artists have spent the past years pursuing individual projects.

On how their journeys have shaped their reunion, they said: “Taking time away gave us perspective. We learned to move at our own pace, stay grounded and enjoy the process. That calmness shows in how we work and how we perform now"

"There’s a new sense of gratitude in what we do, and we’re bringing that same energy into the music we’re creating again.”

Fans can look forward to a mix of classic hits and new material.

“We’ll definitely give people the songs they’ve grown with and loved over the years,” they said.

“But we’re also back in the studio, and new music is on the way very soon. This show will have a mix of nostalgia and what’s next for us. We’re excited to share a glimpse of that with everyone.”

On the impact they hope the reunion will have, the duo added: “We just want people to feel good. For those who’ve been with us since the early days, this is a moment to reconnect and relive the memories."

"For the new generation, it’s a chance to experience our sound for the first time. At the end of the day, it’s all about connection, love and good energy. That’s what Liquideep has always been about.”

Attendees can expect hits like “BBM”, “Fairytale”, “Alone”, “Rise Again”, “Something About You”, “Welcome Aboard” and many more.

The festival line-up also includes MORDA, Zee Nxumalo, Sphectacula & DJ Naves, among others.

Kgolo Da Guru Mthembu, one of the festival organisers, said: “The last time I saw Liquideep perform was in 2010 in my nightclub, and it was one of the best events we have ever had.

"To see them reunite for the festival is not just nostalgic, it’s iconic. This is about celebrating our city with music that shaped our culture.”
