Dentists suggest that our busy lifestyles, the stress of upcoming public holidays, plus disrupted routines could mean bad news for your teeth this World Oral Health Day. As South Africans dive into a season of celebrations, from Friday evening braais to long weekend camping, dental professionals warn that this combination of factors puts our oral health at risk.
The South African Dental Association revealed that 41% of children and nearly 28% of adults experience untreated tooth decay, highlighting the importance of maintaining good oral care habits even during the upcoming holidays and public holidays. Dentyne has partnered with family dentist Dr. Bongiwe Nhlangulela (Dr Bee) to remind South Africans to maintain their oral health and confidence this World Oral Health Day.
“It's easy to let our oral hygiene routines slip when we’re gearing up for a time of joy, delicious treats, and celebratory drinks. So, we want to remind everyone to avoid taking a holiday from oral care even with extended leave days coming up, because a healthy smile is your best accessory. Healthy oral habits should be non-negotiable during every season.”
Dr Bee offers this expert advice to help South Africans navigate oral health despite our busy days.
“Remember, taking care of your oral health is a gift to yourself that keeps on giving. It impacts your physical health, your confidence, and social interactions. So, don't forget to be kind to your mouth and try to keep Dentyne in your bag to ensure you’re always #DentyneReady,” concludes Dr Bee.
