There’s still time to apply for the 2025 MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) intake—but hurry, as applications close on 17 February 2025. Opened on 19 December 2024, this call is for passionate South Africans aiming to leave their mark on the film and TV industry.
Now celebrating a decade of empowering and enriching Africa’s greatest storytellers, MTF provides a 12-month industry-readiness programme. Participants develop hands-on skills in directing, producing, cinematography, commissioning, and more, all under the mentorship of top industry professionals.
“The MTF Academy is our commitment to the future of our industry and gives young Africans the chance to hone their television and film production skills through a world-class training programme,” says Bobby Heaney, Director of MultiChoice Talent Factory South Africa. “After so many successful years, we’re proud to announce a new call to entry and look forward to meeting the next generation of African filmmakers.”
A shining example of MTF’s impact is Gcinashe “Nash” Baruza, who appeared on MultiTalks in November 2024 and is now the Acting Commissioning Editor for Scripted Content at MultiChoice. Her journey—from fresh graduate to a key industry role—demonstrates how the MTF Academy is Enriching Lives by transforming passion into tangible success.

This hands-on experience has catapulted many graduates to work on popular shows such as Gomorra, The River, The Queen, Youngins, Adulting, and reality TV series like Idols, Survivor and Miss SA, while others like A Tribe Called Story, Eccentric Circus and Zetha’s Tales launched their own production companies – proof of the robust creative ecosystem MTF fuels.
