Durban - The Durban Metro Police, South African Defence Force, South African Police Service, Correctional Services Department and the eThekwini Fire Department joined forces on Thursday and marched through the streets of Durban in honour of service women.
The Women in Uniform parade on Thursday started at Joe Slovo Street continuing along Dr Pixley kaIsaka Seme Street to Dorothy Nyembe Street.
The aim of the march, according to the organisers, was to honour and celebrate the many women in uniform sometimes working against the odds in predominantly male environments.
Alongside their male colleagues, they put their bodies on the line to serve and protect.
The parade comprised about 200 women. After the march, the different department’s vehicles put on their sirens to celebrate the successful march.
