Durban - Snow lovers were in their element following a Winter wonderland weekend in parts of the country.

Most parts of KwaZulu-Natal experienced icy conditions as snow fell on the southern Drakensberg, Giants Castle, Mooi River, Matatiele, Kokstad, Underberg and Impedle.

According to Weather SA, on Monday morning, satellite images showed mostly clear skies with snow still visible over Swartberg, Kougaberg, Sneeuberg and Winterberg.

SA Weather forecaster, Julius Mahlangu, said temperatures were expected to pick up in the week.

Mahlangu said the coldest days of the cold front had passed. He added that there was no rainfall expected for most of the week, however rain was predicted for Friday.

He said locals should brace for at least two more cold fronts in the coming weeks before Summer rolls in.
