City streets get a facelift as sticker removal drive kicks off

In an effort to restore urban elegance and curb visual pollution, the Ensure Ubuntu Cleaning Division has launched an ambitious sticker removal drive across some of the city’s most prominent thoroughfares.

According to Kyle Connoly, the CEO of Ensure Security, the initiative was designed not only to eradicate unsightly stickers plastered across lampposts and walls but also to clean the persistent glue residue that often mars the beauty of the city’s landscape.

"Currently, the cleaning initiative spans several key streets, including Monty Naicker Street, Dr Pixley Ka Seme Street, Joe Slovo Street, Dr Yusuf Dadoo Street, David Webster Street, A.B. Xuma Street and the interconnecting roads in the bustling precinct.

Each of these locations is known for its foot traffic and vibrant urban life, making cleanliness paramount for both residents and visitors alike," he said.

He added that this drive was more than just a cosmetic improvement. "It is part of a broader commitment to enhancing the visual appeal of the city, helping to restore dignity to public spaces while fostering a culture of cleanliness among the community.

"By tackling these small yet significant issues, the Ensure Ubuntu Cleaning Division aims to promote a well-maintained and welcoming urban environment where the local populace feels proud to live and work," he explained.

Connolly was of the view that the removal of decorative stickers, often found plastered on buildings and street furniture, is a task some might consider minor but it plays a crucial role in maintaining urban aesthetics.

"Over time, these inconspicuous details can accumulate, contributing to a declining urban landscape and an overall sense of neglect an issue that the city is determined to correct," he said

He further commented: "As the drive progresses, residents are encouraged to participate actively in preserving cleanliness in their surroundings. Community engagement is essential in nurturing a culture that prioritises cleanliness and respect for public spaces.
