A COLLABORATION between Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team and the South African Police Service resulted in the successful recovery of three stolen vehicles in the KwaMashu and Umlazi area on Monday.
According to Tyron Powell, the communication officer for Marshall Security, the first alert came around midday when Netstar reported the theft of a white Kia K2700 bakkie in the Pinetown area.
The tracking data indicated that the vehicle had entered KwaMashu. Marshall’s Special Operations Team, in coordination with Netstar’s ground team and SAPS, were able to track the vehicle to P-Section in KwaMashu.
The bakkie was subsequently returned to its rightful owner, who chose not to pursue a formal case
.
The intensity of the operation didn’t wane as by 14:33pm, an alert was received about a white Toyota Dyna truck stolen from outside a client’s premises on Beechfield Crescent in the Umgeni Business Park.
Again, through the collaborative efforts involving private security partners alongside the Durban North SAPS Trio Crimes Unit, the truck was located abandoned in M-Section, KwaMashu, in quick time. The owner of the truck also opted against filing a police report.
Powell said a third vehicle was recovered in the V-Section of Umlazi after it was stolen in Chatsworth, but was also recovered and the owner also adopted the same stance of not opening a case.
“This was remarkable work,” Powell said.
“From Pinetown to KwaMashu to Umlazi, our teams remain relentless in tracking and retrieving stolen vehicles, working closely with tracking partners, SAPS, and private security networks to get results fast,” he said.
