IN ITS bid to uplift learning in disadvantaged communities, EasyPay granted bursaries to approximately twenty learners from Kwasanti Secondary School, in Pinetown, yesterday.

This initiative was a vital component of EasyPay’s commitment to community support, particularly for students hailing from underprivileged backgrounds.

The package promised significant benefits for recipients, including twenty mobile phones, a six-month bursary for short courses, data and airtime allocation for the period in question.

Xolani Madlala, the school's deputy principal, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the school was selected at random by EasyPay for the initiative.

He said: “This initiative will have a positive impact on learners’ education, as many come from disadvantaged homes, some being raised in single-parent situations and even child-headed families.”

Madlala highlighted that the provision of the devices would empower learners to adapt to changing times and engage meaningfully in an increasingly digital world.

“Access to these resources will enable our learners to conduct research and enhance their academic performance,” he explained.

The deputy principal conveyed that the bursaries would give pupils a significant head start in acquiring essential life skills. “Learners in our community must realise that education can transform lives.

This initiative was a step in that direction,” Madlala affirmed, wishing to inspire students to avoid paths that lead to crime and instead embrace the possibilities education offers.

He said they would pursue further initiatives and partnerships transform the futures of pupils at Kwasanti, to make it a ‘school of choice’, featuring improved infrastructure and academic performance that surpasses others.

Lindokuhle Ndlovu shared her thoughts on the importance of the school’s current curriculum and said that teachers were very supportive and that the bursaries would give them a better chance to develop and improve their skills.

“I am planning on studying IT, I will make sure I get good grades in order to attract more opportunities. I love gadgets, so i know my way around them, and I am also interested in software, that’s my passion,” Ndlovu said.
