The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has taken a hard line on Somalia, saying he does not want Somali immigrants in the US, citing that the country was no good and it "stinks".
Trump made the remarks during a lengthy cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where he told reporters that Somalians ripped off their state for billions of dollars and they contributed nothing.
This after his administration announced that it was halting all asylum decisions following the shooting of two National Guard soldiers in Washington.
“The welfare is like 88 percent; they contribute nothing. I don’t want them in our country, I'll be honest with you, ok?” said Trump while speaking to journalists.
Trump did not care about the consequences of his utterances.
“Somebody would say, oh, that’s not politically correct, I don't care. Their country is no good for a reason, that country stinks and we don’t want them in our country,” stated Trump.
“I don’t know if people mind me saying that, but I’m saying that… uh, we could go one way or the other, and we are gonna go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country,” added Trump.
He further referred to Somalian-born U.S. diplomat Ilhan Omar, the outspoken representative of Minnesota's 5th congressional district, and her friends as "garbage". He said that Omar and her friends were people who did nothing but complain, “and from where they came from, they had nothing.”
“You know they came from paradise and they say this is not paradise, but when they come from hell and they complain and do nothing but a b#%*” he furthered.
He was emphatic about Somalians being unwelcome in the US, and said they should head back where they came from and fix their country.
