Hugo Broos criticised 19-year-old Mbekezeli Mbokazi for arriving late to a Bafana team camp, and warned that his R51-million MLS move was bad for his development, adding that he would address Mbokazi after making a controversial ‘black-to-white’ remark:

@YesThatRuss Hugo wants the best for Mbokazi, this is fatherly. I like white people who aren’t afraid to confront race, those are the least racist people, he’s angry that Mbokazi took a premature decision.

@Zwelakhe_ceo So black people behave differently than white people?

@IamBreezy_SA He lost me when he started mentioning colour.

@grootiie_ The ‘black guy white guy’ comment? He must tell us what he meant or we want him gone? We’ve been racially abused enough as a country to accept this just because he’s winning us games.

@THE_POLITIKAL_1 What the hell is Hugo Broos trying to say? Mbokazi will go in a black guy and come out white? I hope he is not having racist undertones because that could be understood to mean blackness is what makes him unprofessional – and for that we must hold Broos accountable!

@khutsomatjie1 Then where does the colour of their skin fit in this...”he’s a star he think he’s a star was enough.

@thoban_inno Keep up the good work Hugo Broos, we will remember you for decades. Players have been doing as they please in the national team some will hate you but we know why because you want what is best for Bafana Bafana.

@DefendSouthsa Anyone complaining about this should try and find out how Rassie speaks to the Springboks, this is fatherly love and you can’t convince me otherwise.

@SQ_Gunner Father figure. Zero sugar-coating just facts even if it turns the masses and the media against him.

@MadeforTyresse When they said some South Africans can’t read for a mean i thought they are lying, but after going through the comments I just realized it might be true.

@Thulani53884021 Good Coach I’m a Pirates fan and agree this is nonsense . The young man must take himself seriously.

@Scocolito_Berry Leave him out of your team; you have already undressed him in public, I doubt he is motivated to play for you at this point.
