As the year draws to a close, residents and businesses in Ward 32 of the KwaDukuza Municipality have much to celebrate, thanks to the collaborative efforts fostered by their local councillor, Privi Makhan.
In an interview with the Daily News, Makhan took the opportunity to express her gratitude to residents, businesses, local organisations, and civic partners who have contributed to various community-driven projects throughout the year.
“Our local cleaning and greening initiatives, led by the Dolphin Coast Conservancy and Dolphin Coast Waste Management, have transformed our surroundings, keeping public areas beautiful, safe, and sustainable,” Makhan elaborated, highlighting the exterior improvements that have not only enhanced the aesthetics of the ward, but have also emphasiseda commitment to environmental stewardship.
In addition to environmental initiatives, Makhan emphasised the essential role played by the iLembe Chamber of Commerce in championing entrepreneurship.
“Their continuous efforts to support small business growth and develop local talent are making a real difference in the lives of many,” she said, acknowledging the pivotal role small enterprises play in boosting the local economy.
What truly sets Ward 32 apart, Makhan posited, is the strong sense of partnership prevalent among its residents.
“Whether it’s volunteers giving up their time, community groups taking the initiative, or residents coming together to solve problems, the goodwill and pride in our area are evident everywhere.
The collaborative spirit is our greatest asset,” she noted.
Looking ahead, Councillor Makhan called on all community members, especially newcomers, to register to vote.
“Your voice matters in shaping the future of this vibrant and growing area,” she remarked passionately.
“Together, we can continue building a ward that reflects the best of who we are a community full of possibilities.”
Reflecting on the past year, it is clear that Ward 32 has witnessed significant progress through numerous projects and partnerships that have strengthened community ties.
From infrastructure enhancements to environmental care, 2023 has been a year marked by fruitful collaboration and communal dedication.
