Israel’s decision to attack Lebanon during a ceasefire sparked debate on social media which resulted in Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz.

@MarioNawfal The ceasefire is less than 24 hours old, and it’s already being torn apart over Lebanon. Here’s the situation: Pakistan announced the ceasefire applied ‘everywhere, including Lebanon.’ Iran agreed on that basis. Then Netanyahu called Trump minutes before the announcement and got him to agree Lebanon was excluded. The White House never clarified publicly until it was too late. Vance called it a ‘legitimate misunderstanding.’ That’s a generous way of describing what happened. Iran entered a ceasefire believing Lebanon was included; Israel entered knowing it wasn’t.

@DavidPaez132852 Trump is being controlled by Israel.

@Syed70396970693 Americans and Israel are not trustworthy. Twice Israel and the US sabotaged peace talks, and it is the third time. How and why the world and Iran trust these two countries is one of the great mysteries of life. These two are a threat to world peace and stability.

@thebamnet It’s not as simple as this one controls that one. They are two rational beings with complex thoughts, roles, and positions. Situations and circumstances are dynamic. Reasoning based on influence can vary minute by minute and from day to day. No one can definitively say Netanyahu controls Trump, or vice versa.

@patitocu8 Trump declares one thing, and Netanyahu ends up doing whatever he damned well pleases. A few weeks ago, they said that things had spiralled out of control for Trump, and his strategy hasn’t been the most effective.

@IVCrushLeague Obvious loophole. Ceasefire that applies everywhere (to Iran) doesn’t mean to everyone. Of course, Netanyahu is going to jump on that ambiguity.

@Prophet224019 A ceasefire agreement with America and Israel was always laughable.

@TTAYLORJOEHD Netanyahu calling Trump minutes before the announcement to exclude Lebanon!? That’s not a ‘misunderstanding’ … that’s strategic manoeuvring. Iran entered the deal believing Hezbollah would get breathing room. Now over 250 dead in 10 minutes of strikes. This truce was DOA.

@Karn13241529 Can Benjamin actually make decisions like a man without his Trumpy boy? The two most despised men on Earth. Hesgeth at #3, but not a man – little boy acting grown up.

@JarirSaadz What’s happening in Lebanon right now is unacceptable. Civilians are being killed, homes are being destroyed, and this is happening at a moment when the region is supposed to be moving toward de-escalation. You don’t launch massive strikes and then talk about peace. That’s not stability – that’s escalation. No justification makes civilian suffering acceptable. This needs to be called out for what it is.

@ErinCampbell_99 Honestly, at this stage I would agree if Iran decided to just bomb us all.

@Uncensoredhf This wasn’t just an off-ramp for Trump. He was in situations of ultimatum and bomb hell out of Iran, which was not supported by many, so just accepted verbally the ceasefire. Netanyahu got backlashed and here we are — war again.
