South Africa’s refusal to grant Starlink an operating licence for not adhering to B-BBEE requirements has stirred much debate.

@i_likebrandon | Americans: Wow, South Africa didn’t want Elon Musk to launch Starlink because they want it to be locally owned. Also America: We have to ensure TikTok is owned by an American company. “Rules for thee but not for me” – ass country.

@Dolo0987Rn | Wrong. It is not because Starlink has to be locally owned. It’s because they want it to be black-owned. That is racist.

@elonmusk | South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black! We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a licence by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle. Racism should not be rewarded no matter what race it is applied to. Shame on the racist politicians in South Africa. They should be shown no respect anywhere in the world and shunned for being unashamedly RACIST!

@Mikedotcoza | You are a blatant liar. That’s exactly why this platform has become so distasteful. You acquired it on the promise of tackling misinformation, yet you have become one of its biggest sources. There are over 500 American companies operating in South Africa, many of them led by White executives. This isn’t about facts, it’s about smearing South Africa’s image for your own benefit.

@DrunkMohel | There are specific ICASA telecom licensing rules requiring 30% Black ownership under B-BBEE for electronic communications services. What are you on about?

@midrandking | Thank you. This man thinks we are all stupid and can’t apply our own minds. And to think that he has all the wealth in the world, but lacks the wisdom to see that we see through him.

@ShaneZa21 | Why are you so desperate to invest in RSA, I mean there is Uganda, Zimbabwe, Botswana, why us?

@nkdogana | Can you show an official answer that motivated their refusal so that you can back up your statement? Forgive me, but believing in the man who helped Trump become president is a bit difficult nowadays.

@mobster345 | The very people complaining about this are totally supportive of Trump stealing Venezuela’s natural resources. Also you hate Black people but cry that they don’t want to do business with you. You say they are dumb but they are smart enough to not do business with you.

@ps_terris | Very true, wise words and perfectly smart individual. He should sanction his PayPal in South Africa and leave the country – it’s not like we need him in our life. He thinks Trump will remain in power for 100 years.

@Deee_luul | Elon, maybe you should respect South Africa’s laws and acknowledge what its people went through because of colonialism. As someone born there, you should be more empathetic and understand the country’s history better, instead of trying to bend the country’s laws to fit your own interests!

@ChrisExcel102 | You said there genocide. Why are you desperately wanting to invest in a country that has genocide. Why don’t you take your business elsewhere where it’s genocide free.
