SAFPA International Convention 2026: A Historic Gathering for South African Funeral Practitioners

The South African Funeral Practitioners Association (SAFPA) is set to make history by hosting the SAFPA International Convention 2026 from 24 to 28 May at the prestigious Durban International Convention Centre.

Anticipating a gathering of approximately 1,500 delegates from various corners of the globe, the convention aims to shine a spotlight on South Africa's vibrant funeral services industry while fostering essential international collaborations.

SAFPA President, Dr Nomfundo Mcoyi-Zondo, heralded the significance of the event, declaring, “Hosting the SAFPA International Convention is a proud moment for our country and our industry.

It highlights our commitment to providing dignified and professional funeral services while creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and partnerships that will benefit South African practitioners and communities.”

The convention promises a rich programme featuring a series of workshops, presentations, and exhibitions carefully curated to meet the needs and interests of South African funeral professionals.

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage with global perspectives and best practices that could enhance the local funeral service landscape.

Key topics will be discussed by industry leaders and experts, with addresses delivered by prominent figures including KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli, eThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Njabulo Nzuza, and Minister of Small Business Development Stella Ndabeni.

The event will also host the CEO of Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN), Sihle Ngcamu, and Musa Zondi, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA).
