Dear Sir,
Every Sunday for the past double-the-Cliff-Richardian “I will give you forty days”, the world has been promised a “deal” to be announced “the next day” – every Monday.
Trump, advised by Physical Science dropouts like Rubio and others, continues mixing up, like the near-sighted Mr Magoo, the terms “Iranian” and “uranium”.
And it now seems we are “very close to a deal” that will make Massmart, Makro, Game, Checkers, Shoprite, Pick n Pay – and even the Checkout Group – spin in their roundabouts with envy, unable to match such an amazing, challenging bargain!
The truth of the matter is that there is actually no deal that is going to last even long enough for the ink to dry on the parchment – or, if electronic, before the data is transferred into the device’s memory.
If this wheeling and dealing over the past 90 days has kept our world in filthy, untrimmed, nail-biting and costly suspense, readers can bet their bottom toman, their low-down dollar, their last bottomless rial, that this war will resume immediately after all peace deals are signed between the genuine martyr-musketeers of Iran and the mouse-musketeers of Israel and the States.
This dismal prediction is based on past performances of “diplomatic” negotiations interspersed with sudden-death doses of cowardly, back-stabbing invasion and bombing – especially of kindergarten children’s schools.
“Peace” will merely hover as a disguise for a permanently unstable situation in which nobody is safe until everybody else is.
Unless Israel decides to throw in its blood-stained towel, remove all traces of Zionism throughout the occupied land, and declare a single state for all to enjoy, nobody will enjoy a good night’s rest.
Until then, continue reading the editorials, continue debating and arguing the good fight in letters to the editor, continue watching hundreds of talk shows and podcasts.

Oh, boo hoo.
The big bad Israeli yelled at Hamas supporters trying to break into the Gaza war zone.
Now France, which allows thousands of Islamists to parade through Paris screaming, “Death to Israel, death to America”, will ban the extremist Ben-Gvir. He is, of course, the far-right Israeli Minister of National Security who is one of the most controversial figures in Israeli politics because of his hardline positions on Palestinians, security, settlements and policing.

Supermum Rachel Dehal celebrated her 95th birthday on May 1, followed shortly thereafter by Mother’s Day, before passing away on May 17 after a short illness.
She was laid to rest on May 23, following a victorious thanksgiving and graduation service.
Pastor Joey Govender of Resurrection Life Church delivered a sermon based on the biblical scriptures of Matthew 5:4, Proverbs 31 and John 14.
Incidentally, Dad Joseph (Joe) passed away on October 31, 1978, on the eve of my first final examination paper during my postgraduate studies.
Both parents were God-fearing, people-serving individuals characterised by love, humility, excellence, and a smart and hard-working work ethic. Of course, they did not spare the “dreaded rod” when circumstances warranted its use.
Their children – Rene, Augustine, Lydia, Simon, Cyril, Sherine and Marlene – and surviving spouses Colin, Nereen and Vareena, express their sincere gratitude to the many people who blessed Mum during her life and loved her dearly.
Gratitude is also extended to all those who visited, called telephonically, and made contributions in cash and kind before and after her passing.
Service providers and others are also deeply appreciated, especially members of the clergy and medical profession.
To the younger members within the family circle and close friends, please learn from Rachel’s fine example and the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
RIP, most precious Mum – until we meet again, as Jesus promised: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints” (Psalm 116:15 – Bible). | Simon T Dehal Verulam
I find myself rather distressed about Mr Ebrahim Essa’s obsessional hatred of Israel and her faults, against his concern for any other country and their peoples’ suffering and misjudgement.
So I asked AI, which, being a machine, has no religious or any other bias, about Israel and the Muslim world. Israel’s internationally recognised land mass is 20 770km² compared to Muslim-majority countries whose combined land mass is 29.1 million square kilometres. Muslim countries control roughly 1 400 times more land than Israel.
About 0.2% of the world’s population is Jewish. Surprisingly, Jews have been recipients of 22% of Nobel Prize winners, mainly in the sciences, something that has been of great benefit to the world.
