The mutilated body of a man was found in a bushy area in Sea Cow Lake, north of the Umgeni River, in Durban on Thursday morning.

It is believed residents stumbled across the man's body, found face down and allegedly dumped down an embankment. One of the man's feet had been hacked off while the other was partially removed.

A source revealed to IOL that Greenwood Park police and detectives were dispatched to the area, which has since been cordoned off to curious onlookers.

Investigating teams are combing the area for clues to assist in the investigation.

Police vehicles lined the roadside as stunned residents gathered at a distance, whispering in disbelief at the horror uncovered in their neighbourhood.
