Video footage of a shooting incident in Nyanga in the Western Cape on Tuesday where four people were gunned down has emerged.
The shooting incident took place before 9am.
In the 87-second video, a pan view of what has been called a taxi rank along the corners of Moonwood Drive and Sheffield Road can be seen.
A man enters the frame in the bottom left corner wearing a black beanie, white shoes, a brown jersey, and black pants. He is holding a blue bag that covers an object. He walks over to the patch of land where the vehicles are parked. Before he starts shooting, people can be seen running in the opposite direction as if gunfire is already ringing out.
The man with the black beanie then starts firing from an AK-47 rifle at the minibus taxi closest to him. It can be seen that he strikes an individual multiple times.
People are seen running for their lives, and on the opposite patch of land, a blue vehicle is seen reversing. This is when two men enter the frame of the footage and start firing at the blue vehicle multiple times before the driver manages to get away. Seconds later, the two men exit the frame of the footage.
The man with the rifle cannot be seen, but later, another unidentified man can be seen running with a firearm in hand, metres behind him, the man with the black beanie holding the AK-47 comes running. But, he stops to pick up the bag he used to cover the firearm, goes to check inside the minibus taxi, and then flees the scene.
The provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Andrè Traut, said the shooting incident is believed to be taxi-related.
This, after six people were shot and four were declared dead at the scene.
