The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal is hosting a media briefing in Durban following a decisive meeting of the Provincial Task Team (PTT) that addressed serious challenges facing the province.
According to the party, the meeting was “frank, robust, and far-reaching” in its deliberations over deep-seated issues that, if not urgently confronted, pose a “serious and imminent threat to governance, stability, and effective service delivery” in KwaZulu-Natal.
ANC KZN spokesperson Fanle Sibisi said the media briefing will outline the party's political response and immediate interventions in relation to these critical challenges.
The ANC has warned that these challenges, if not decisively addressed, “constitute a ticking time bomb for the province.”
Furthermore, emerging and significant political developments that have been impacting governance and functionality within local municipalities will be addressed.
He said the PTT has adopted concrete interventions and resolutions aimed at stabilising governance, restoring public confidence, enforcing accountability, and protecting the interests of communities.
Sibisi also stated that the party will engage the media to outline the outcomes of the PTT meeting and the clear political direction being pursued to safeguard the stability, interests, and future of the people of KwaZulu-Natal.
