The last day of the Rand Show broke all previous attendance records with an estimated 90 000 people passing through the gates.
So great was the crush that some turnstiles were opened to prevent revellers from being crushed.
Late on Monday, crowds were still pouring through the gates for the YFM concert at the Nasrec grounds, making it difficult for artists like rap group Hidden Force and Lebo Mathosa to start their performances on time.
However, the show ran smoothly with an estimated 30 000 fans responding warmly to every act.
Performing were the likes of Tuks, Prokid, Sliquor, and Brickz, who rocked the house with his MTN SA Music Awards-nominated hit Sweetie My Baby. When he and his crew, including producer DJ Cleo, did the hit Tjovitjo, whistles echoed through Nasrec in the usual call-and-response fashion of South African fans.
Another winner was Mathosa, SA's top female kwaito artist. Her show featured sexy tribal and hip-hop dances choreographed by Somizi Mhlongo.
The Kalawa-Jazzmee stable came later, with Oskido, Thebe and Spikiri also appearing.
Kwaito artist Mzekezeke got a rousing send-off in what was his last live appearance. He will now concentrate on his record label, TS Records.
