TWO members of a gang who carried out an armed robbery in Swayimane, near Wartburg, on Wednesday, were members of the SA Police Service and had been armed with official firearms at the time of their arrest, the police said on Wednesday.

Six suspects were arrested soon after holding up a homestead in Swayimane, shot and wounded three of the occupants and fled with a large sum of money.

The victims, Anna Majola, Khonzi Zondi and Buyisile Zulu, were treated at a clinic for graze wounds.

The suspects were arrested after their vehicle was spotted by police officers on the Table-Mountain/Wartburg road.

Six men were arrested and four firearms, including two police-issue pistols, were seized along with the cash.
