South Africa heads into the weekend with hot conditions in the interior and showers in the east. The north-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal face a warning for disruptive rain, while the west will be fine and warm.
Morning: Cool in the west and interior, mild along the coast.
Afternoon: Hot in the Free State, Northern Cape, Gauteng, and Limpopo.
East Coast: Partly cloudy with showers and thundershowers, heavier in north-eastern KZN.
Western Cape: Fine and warm.
Pretoria: Hot and sunny, climbing to 29°C after a 10°C morning.
Johannesburg: Warm to hot, 28°C during the day, dipping to 8°C overnight.
Cape Town: Fine and warm, reaching 24°C with a low of 11°C.
Durban: Cloudy with showers and thundershowers, peaking at 21°C and a minimum of 17°C. Risk of disruptive rain in parts of KZN.
Bloemfontein: Hot and dry, maximum 29°C after a chilly 1°C start.
Polokwane: Partly cloudy and warm, reaching 26°C with a 12°C low.
Upington: Scorching hot, clear skies with a high of 35°C and a minimum of 9°C.
Gqeberha: Mild and cloudy, 19°C during the day, 13°C at night.
East London: Partly cloudy with possible showers, maximum 20°C, low of 13°C.
Disruptive rainfall in the north-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
Very hot conditions in the interior, particularly the Northern Cape and Free State.
Isolated thundershowers over Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.
Friday will bring a contrast of weather across the country: hot and sunny in much of the interior and west, but showery and stormy in the east, especially KwaZulu-Natal where heavy rain may cause localised disruptions.
