Daily Maverick investigative journalist Pieter-Louis Myburgh has revealed that he was offered a R60 000 bribe by Independent Development Trust (IDT) CEO Tebogo Malaka and his spokesperson Phasha Makgolane in an attempt to derail a corruption investigation. The meeting, held as part of Myburgh’s probe into alleged corruption at the IDT, took an unexpected turn when the officials reportedly tried to silence him with the cash offer, unaware that the entire conversation was being secretly recorded. Malaka is currently under investigation in connection with an R836 million tender scandal.
