A statement by EFF leader Julius Malema that KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi was not special, and should avail himself for the ad hoc committee as scheduled, sparked an outrage on social media platform X.

@MzwaneleManyi Gen Mkhwanazi has NEVER refused to appear before the ad hoc committee nor is he playing hard to get. He communicated the reality that the Madlanga Commission has booked him until the 24 Sep 2025. If the ad hoc committee or public protector want him earlier they must approach Madlanga.

@malesela_philly The whole MP missing the point that  ad hoc committee and commission their responsibility and reporting structure are not the same. How can you prioritise a commission that has already failed to start on the 1st of September? No wonder you where removed as chief whip.

@LadyM1306 Julius Malema is not wrong and y’all are making this personal when it’s not. Mkhwanazi must avail himself because he’s the reason there’s a commission of inquiry. This is more like a hearing … he needs to be there when needed.

@T_S_T_dee You are failing to understand that Mkhwanazi has already presented all the evidence to parliament and they made no action until he made a public submission to SA citizens. The man is busy fighting crime in KZN and this past week was investigating heists with arrests yesterday evening. Now the ridiculous request to make him come to the parliamentary committee and have same submissions to Madlanga Commission is just absurd and unnecessary double work for him.

@Lil_Boggels Let Sibaya come and give his side of story, without getting preparation time by having watched Mkhwanazi’s testimony. Then let Mkhwanazi come and show why Sibaya was lying, point by point. We already know what Mkhwanazi is alleging, let the accused have a chance to speak first.

@Rampai_rams We all know Malema is one of the dumbest politicians to exist. Have pride in yourself. Firstly which mess did Mkhwanazi created, because he was simply telling SA what we already know. Importantly he brings evidence.

@uMthembeni No, this is grandstanding. Malema was just putting a performance & he should be embarrassed. Gen. Mkhwanazi can’t be expected to be in two places at once, logically speaking that’s impossible & Malema is aware that the latter is currently consulting with the Madlanga Commission.
