The statement by KZN provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkwanzai before an Ad Hoc parliamentary committee that some journalist were corrupt set the cat among the pigeons on X:
@lesiamolibeli This is their default posture. You question their behaviour, they get on their high horse and claim an attack on the profession. Mkhwanazi made it clear that SOME of these journalists are rogue and in the pockets of thugs. We’ve had the likes of Ranjeni, Vusi Mona, etc.
@Soweto_God By protecting corrupt journalists and refusing an investigation proves right what Mkhwanazi has alleged against journalists because the most ethical thing SANEF could do is to allow investigations to take place instead of playing hide and seek proving that SANEF is infiltrated.
@MrThipe I’m not surprised. @Newzroom405interview with SANEF representative. They are deliberately distorting what General Mkhwanazi said. The general said journalists with access to classified intelligence docs must be investigated. He did not say all journalists.
@Bubu1191643 They are already looking guilty at every plot twist. Sheep waiting for the name. General Mkhwanazi built a solid presentation for perfect investigation.
@Zinixolani Ranjeni Munusamy was paid by the state intelligence. Journalists are also corrupt. Mkhwanazi is correct.
@InjoboEnhle @pierredevos and @News24 are you captured, are you trying to use your power and influence to cast doubts & aspersions on the credibility of Mkhwanazi are you part of O’Sullivan’s gang? Why don’t you focus on the bigger picture & the benefits that Mkhwanazi is bringing to the nation?
@Thanda_Zikhali Corrupt journalists are a threat to democracy, Lieutenant-General Mkhwanazi cannot be intimidated.
@Umalumewabantu So, talk radio stations will spend the whole morning bleating about what General Mkhwanazi said about journalists, disregarding everything else he said for more than 10hrs.
@khayakoko88 Why doesn’t Mkhwanazi name them? Why does he keep saying there are journalists paid by Crime Intelligence, but refuses to name them?
@MLephollet70883 The co-ordinated attack I’m seeing on General Mkhwanazi by the @SAEditorsForum on @Newzroom405 through the despicable @michellecraig is just the beginning. The media is not a bunch of angels. Why don’t they wanna be investigated?
@Patriot_Girll Journalists are corrupt....and Mkhwanazi must keep exposing them. Don’t try the man, he says y’all try to fight him, he will release more.
@4listeners Mkhwanazi is talking about corrupt journalists. Why is the SANEF not supporting him. Journalists report lies, they don’t investigate anymore, they are in the pockets of cartels and SANEF knows that. Journalists protect other people.
