The public service amendment bill is no silver bullet. The political heads shall have no power to interfere in the operations or administration of departments, but this will however not eradicate political deployments. If the HOD and political heads are buddies, or from the same political party they shall perpetuate the current practice. This interference is rife in KZN and they are therefore not supporting this Bill. – Anonymous

The IFP extends its best wishes to the Matric Class of 2025 as they begin their final examinations.
You have invested your time, energy, and determination in preparing for this crucial milestone. We firmly believe your hard work will bear fruit and open doors to a bright and successful future.
Recent matric results have shown a sustained upward trend in learner performance, reflecting steady progress within South Africa’s education sector. As the Class of 2025 enters the examination period, we reflect with pride on the Class of 2024, who achieved a record-breaking pass rate of 87.3% – the highest in the country’s history. We are confident that this year’s cohort will continue that legacy of excellence.
The IFP acknowledges that 2025 has presented significant challenges. Learners have had to overcome obstacles such as criminal activity and gangsterism in some communities, as well as disruptions in KwaZulu-Natal schools due to educators’ union protests over subsidy payments. These factors have added to the pressure on many learners during an already demanding time.
Despite these difficulties, the IFP has full confidence in the resilience, strength, and determination of our learners. With the continued support of educators, parents, and the Department of Education, we believe that the Class of 2025 will rise above these challenges and achieve outstanding success.“
When Grade 12 learners go for their final examinations at the end of the year, it marks the moment when they prepare to cross the bridge from childhood to adulthood. It has been a long journey from Grade R to Grade 12. We congratulate them in advance, as many of their peers who started this journey did not make it this far. I thank them for their perseverance and encourage them not to give up as they are about to cross this bridge,” said IFP President, Velenkosini Hlabisa, MP.

During a recent visit to England, I was delighted to stumble across a bronze statue of the ledgendary British cricketer, Freddie Trueman, in the town of Skipton, depicting him in his firery bowling action.
As I gazed at the figure of this great cricketer, I wondered if any South African cricketer had been honoured in this fashion.?
I immediately thought of the great, late Michael Procter, who in his prime was undoubtly one of the best all-rounders in world cricket. He was a master with both bat and ball, as his figures will confirm and is the only international cricketer, as far as I know, to have taken four wickets in five balls and is one of only three international cricketers to have scored six successive centuries.
Procter served both Natal and South African cricket with distinction and aplomb for several years. Tragically, his career being cut short by the consequences of apartheid.
Surely, honour is due to such an extraordinary cricketer, thus a similar statue should be constructed and placed at either The Oval in Pietermaritzburg or at Kingsmead in Durban.
I had the privilege of watching Procter play many times and to see his unique bowling action side on, was a sight not to be forgotten. | Kevin Meineke Summerveld
The answer to Charl Oosthuizen’s question whether vaccines are “secretly a biological weapon for population control” is an emphatic Yes.
Depopulation has long been the aim of the oligarchical elites associated with the World Economic Forum and its control of the World Health Organisation. Plunging humanity into indefinite lockdowns and coercing a vaccine the contents of which was known to be unsafe would have succeeded had it not been for brave doctors and scientists who, despite disparagement and dismissal, resisted what was a ‘plandemic.’
As early as April 2021 the top people in the Food and Drug Administration, the National Health Institute and the Centre for Disease Control in the US were aware that the Covid vax jab they were promoting and coercing was unsafe. Since then evidence of that reality, although increasingly available, has been ignored by the mainstream media and by governments. Here are some examples.
On May 17, 2021, Dr Anthony Fauci stated on MSNBC: “When people are vaxed, they can feel safe. They will not be infected.”
Within a year of this, a 300-page tranche of documents recently obtained via the Freedom of Information Act, contained thousands of reports of the adverse effects caused by the Covid vax, all of which Fauci ignored (The Defender, April 21, 2024).
Janine Small, of the Pfizer Executive, told the European Parliament that the Pfizer Covid vax was never tested in clinical trials for its ability to prevent transmission. In that same month the Australian Bureau of Statistics noted that in the previous year the death rate had increased by 13 524. Most Australians were vaxxed.
Dr Patrick Provost of Laval University in Canada was one of many medical experts who was either suspended or dismissed for challenging the narrative promoting the jab. As a leading authority on mRNA (Messenger Ribonucleic Acid), Provost condemned the vaxxing of children and was outspoken in warning of the acute dangers it posed.
He pointed out that mRNA is gene therapy. It corresponds to the genetic sequence of a gene thereby corrupting one’s natural genetic structure and producing a viral protein. Provost’s research was corroborated by a finding published in The Defender on May 16, 2024 which showed that DNA contamination caused by the Pfizer vax was 500 times greater than the allowable levels.
World Net Daily of April 3, 2024 reported an explosion of reproductive ailments and infertility disorders in Canada’, 85% of which was vaxxed.
In the wake of the mass vaxxing that occurred, a Rasmussen poll in the US last month recorded that 56% of Americans hold the Covid vax as responsible for the cause of unexplained deaths.

I salute and applaud Minister Dion George exploring the economic potential of South Africa’soceans. Many of our cities on the coastline need to make use of our national treasure to be able to enhance job creation. The master plan put together by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries andthe Environment needs to be supported as it could create six hundred thousand jobs. This innovate programme literally will be the start of every other ministry exploring how to create jobs which we so desperately need. | MICHAEL BAGRAIM Cape Town
I must thank Simon Majadibodu of IOL for reporting on Operation Dudula’s swift response to the recent twitterings of the former South African president, Thabo Mbeki (The Star, October 15).
What Operation Dudula, a newly-registered political party, is currently doing is exposing the fault lines of Mbeki’s presidency. It is correct in saying that Mbeki should enjoy his pension and his new-found hobbies, and if I may add, his favourite cognac.
It was he who tried to sell the flawed notion of an African Renaissance, a utopia in which all Africans lived in harmony before the arrival of the pesky colonials in Africa. Allow me to quote judiciously from Meta AI: “It’s inaccurate to portray pre-colonial Africa as a utopia of total harmony”. Peddling the notion of an African brotherhood, apart from his dangerous “science” on HIV-Aids, Mbeki allowed Mozambicans and Zimbabweans to enter our borders to purchase essential goods.
Unfortunately, many of these folk from across our borders decided to remain here. Some even became entrepreneurs in the lucrative business of car hijacking and taking our vehicles across our borders. Those of us who are long in the tooth remember seeing photos of Mbeki hugging the Zimbabwean dictator, Robert Mugabe, and congratulating him on a free and fair election!
Now we have a few million from Mugabe-land and other parts of Africa, seeking free resources in South Africa. This is what Operation Dudula is campaigning against. I must congratulate the young leadership of this radical political party for remembering Mbeki’s false assumptions about so-called African brother-and-sisterhood.
What Operation Dudula should do next is insist on foreign governments paying for the upkeep of their citizens in South African prisons. | Harry Sewlall Parkmore
