Des van Rooyen, the unfortunate politician who keeps getting fired.

From being a ‘weekend special’ as finance minister and now to a ‘one-night’ stand as MKP parliamentary Chief, Whip des Van Rooyen is the laughing stock of X:
@Sentletse Des van Rooyen has been removed as MK Chief Whip. He didn’t even last 2 days. Zuma once appointed him Minister of Finance and fired within 3 days. MK is a joke.
@PrinceDikel a In 2015: Des Van Rooyen was appointed as Minister of Finance for 3 days (weekend special). In 2025: Des Van Rooyen apppointed MKP Chief Whip for 24 hours.
@Bruno_Mozz From being a weekend special to a one-night stand.
@MMashilo28 They must just appoint Zuma’s kids and gran kids.
@moeti_molelekoa There’s a lot of chaos in the MKP, a true reflection of appointments without democratic processes of elections. Just hiring and firing at will.
@MickyMthethwa One thing Zuma hasn’t changed, you sleep employed and wake up unemployed. His been consistent with that
@Tobilo16 I honestly don’t understand what people see in him. He has compromised so many Black professionals – many who once associated with him are now struggling, some even unable to provide for their families. I’m not entirely opposed to his political views; the real question is why he failed to implement them when he actually had the power to do so. His administrative missteps and political chess moves have cost many people their careers.
@MereohleMD The ‘ weekend special ‘ tag loves him. He should just forget about getting senior posts where former President Zuma is around.
@AndiMakinana Des van Rooyen was chief whip for less than 24 hours!
@paddiclay0K He takes the record. I’m now preparing myself for the convoluted analyses as to what’s going down in the faction-riven party. But it’s just ZumaZuma playing with their toy soldiers again.
@NkweMashamaite Ubaba didn’t stop to deal with Des Van Rooyen. From Weekend special to Weekday special.
@DjCliqueSA1 This is hilarious. The decision to suspend DP Hlope was taken unilaterally by ‘His Excellency President Zuma’. So basically… Zuma is the only one not bound by the principle of collective decision-making? The irony is doing backflips at this point.
