When asked about her qualifications, De Haas said she not have a doctorate. “People call me that. I’m not a professor, I did not get an official professorship because I haven’t finished the PhD that would have gotten me one.’

@Themba_Seti According to the regulations published in 2023. only Rhodes University that awarded you the honorary degree can call you a Dr. Therefore, Mary should not be called a Dr by the public, It is illegal.

@DFS_JasonJ This is why, in my opinion, honorary doctorates, do a disservice to to anyone who has actually put in the work to achieve an actual doctorate.

@SoulfulDee2 The day people understand that many professors are not even anything close to that title, they will cry. It is given to certain cartel as favor in academic institutions but one black guy came up with a criteria at certain faculty and he is the most-hated black professor.

@Zutsar0311 When ‘people call you Professor’ and you are not a professor, you correct them. Unless you are the one pretending to be a professor. This is fraud. If finishing a PhD isn’t difficult why didn’t she?

@ZizinjaAbelungu If i was a student of Mary de Haas and she was a lecturer and she made me pass a certain qualification, that would make me wonder if that qualification was credible. Lieutenant-General Mkhwanazi is once again vindicated.

@ChimCham7 De Haas is a product of the apartheid regime’s education system where they just issued qualifications based on your skin colour and nothing else.
