As the 2026 school year approaches, celebrity reality TV star, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Inno Morolong has taken significant strides to uplift underprivileged learners in South Africa. In a heartwarming initiative, Morolong launched a Back-to-School Stationery Drive aimed at supporting children in need, particularly those from child-headed homes. This incredible effort provided essential items such as exercise books, pens, pencils, school bags, rulers, and crayons, allowing children to start the academic term equipped and ready to learn.
On her journey to make an impact, Morolong personally visited Moremaphofu Primary School and Ikemisetseng Mine School in the Free State, where she donated 60 pairs of school shoes along with stationery packs.

During her visit, Morolong delivered an inspirational talk that resonated with the young minds present. “These shoes, this stationery, they’re not just items, they’re a message that your dreams matter,” Morolong passionately remarked, underscoring the importance of believing in oneself and remaining resilient against life’s challenges. She reiterated the significance of education as the foundation for opportunity and long-term success, advocating for the nurturing of not just physical needs but also confidence, dignity, and self-belief among these students.
The impact of Morolong’s visit did not go unnoticed. Teachers and principals praised her initiative, reflecting on the emotional and practical benefits it brought to the learners. Many noted that both the donations and Morolong’s encouraging words left a lasting and motivational impression on students and staff alike.
Award-winning DJ, producer and philanthropist Ashley ‘Shimza’ Raphala has once again demonstrated his commitment to community upliftment through the donation of 3 000 pairs of school shoes to children in need across Gauteng.

Complementing Morolong's noble efforts is the equally devoted award-winning DJ, producer, and philanthropist Ashley 'Shimza' Raphala. His annual Hopeful Soles School Shoe Drive has made massive waves this year by donating 3 000 pairs of school shoes to children in need across 52 schools and children’s homes in Gauteng.
Shimza articulated the purpose behind his initiative, stating, “Hopeful Soles is about more than just school shoes. It’s about restoring dignity and giving children the confidence to walk into their classrooms feeling equal and prepared.” Funded through the Shimuzic Foundation, this programme highlights the increasing role of public figures in providing crucial support to learners hailing from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Together, these initiatives illustrate the powerful impact community-driven efforts can have on ensuring that South Africa’s children embark on their school year with dignity, confidence, and the necessary tools to thrive in their education. Through the generosity and determination of figures like Morolong and Shimza, the future shines a little brighter for these children who deserve every chance to succeed.
