Kaizer Chiefs have taken a concrete step in their pursuit of TS Galaxy forward Puso Dithejane after making direct contact with the player’s camp, signalling renewed intent to bring the former Amakhosi development product back to Naturena.
Dithejane, who has enjoyed a standout campaign, has also been linked with Mamelodi Sundowns, but Chiefs now appear determined not to be left behind in the race for one of the Betway Premiership’s most in-form attackers.
The 21-year-old has been a key figure for Galaxy this season, collecting multiple Player of the Match awards and two Player of the Month accolades, form that has inevitably drawn attention from the league’s heavyweights.
Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has now confirmed that Chiefs officials have already made contact, not only with the player but also with his family, as the wooing process gathers pace.
“I see most journalists are linking him with a move back to Kaizer Chiefs, so yes, yesterday I was with him, and he showed me a number of missed calls from Kaizer Jr, another missed call from Tera Maliwa, the Kaizer Chiefs scout,” Sukazi told Ikwekwezi.
“The boy’s father also phoned me to inform me that he had also received a call from Bobby (Motaung). He also showed me a missed call from coach Vela Khumalo.
“It seems Kaizer Chiefs are still in the wooing process. Well, let’s see how it will go. Bobby has made contact with Dithejane’s father, but he advised Bobby to speak to me about the boy,” he added.
Dithejane’s rise has been one of the more compelling stories of the season, particularly given his roots at Chiefs, where he came through the development ranks before seeking first-team opportunities elsewhere.
That history adds an emotional layer to the pursuit, with Chiefs clearly hoping familiarity and a sense of unfinished business could work in their favour as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
Despite the growing interest, Sukazi insists Galaxy remain in a strong position and are in no rush to part ways with one of their prized assets.
“At TS Galaxy, we don’t have a problem with a club talking to a player first. At the moment, Puso Dithejane is still a TS Galaxy FC player,” he said.
“If Chiefs come to us, we will sit down and listen to what they put on the table and take it from there.”
Galaxy’s stance suggests they are open to negotiations, but only on terms that reflect Dithejane’s importance and current form, especially with Sundowns also believed to be monitoring the situation closely.
For Chiefs, the pursuit speaks to a broader strategy of reclaiming emerging talent with club DNA, while Galaxy will be keen to ensure that any potential move aligns with their long-term ambitions.
As interest intensifies, Dithejane’s future now looks set to become one of the most closely watched transfer stories in the Betway Premiership in the months ahead.
