Football fans are burning up social media in a bid to see the DHL Stadium in Cape Town host this season's Nedbank Cup final.
The country’s premier knockout competition has been filled with shocks this season with a number of giant-killing acts occurring.
Both Soweto giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs have been knocked out along with Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns. The Western Cape’s lone PSL outfit, Stellenbosch FC, were also eliminated in the Round of 16.
There are only two PSL sides, TS Galaxy and Durban City FC, remaining at the semi-final stage along with Motsepe Foundation Championship teams Milford FC and Casric Stars.
There will be at least one second-tier side in the final with TS Galaxy facing Milford FC in the one semi-final and Durban City FC facing off against Casric Stars.
Galaxy have won the competition before when the Mpumalanga-based team lifted the Nedbank Cup back in 2019.
The last five Nedbank Cup finals have been played at Free State Stadium (2021 and 2022), Loftus Versveld in Pretoria (2023), Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga (2024) and Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban (2025).
Cape Town has not hosted the Nedbank Cup final since 2018 when Goodman Dlamini scored the only goal of the game to hand Free Stars a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Maritzburg United.
