After relocating from the United States to Dubai, American actress Lindsay Lohan has returned to her hometown.
The 39-year-old expat's departure from the United Arab Emirates comes amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
According to media reports, Lohan was seen with her husband, Bader Shammas, and their son, Luai, in New York City on March 11.
On February 28, Israel and the United States launched surprise airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran.
In retaliation, Iran targeted its neighbours, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, where US military bases are located.
The escalating conflict has led to intermittent airspace closures and grounded flights, contributing to ongoing turmoil in the region.
Lohan and her family fled Dubai following the retaliatory strikes by Iran that began after the US and Israel's joint attack.
Lohan moved to Dubai in 2014 to escape the intense paparazzi and tabloid scrutiny of Hollywood.
The "Freaky Friday" actress described her relocation as a long-term decision that provided grounding for her personal life.
It was in Dubai that she met her husband, Shammas, and started her family.
The couple married in 2022 and welcomed their son, Luai, in July 2023.
In 2025, Lohan reflected on her journey from the glitz of Hollywood to the tranquillity of Dubai during an appearance on the American talk show "Kelly and Mark" with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos.
“It’s just far away from Hollywood, and I live a very normal life,” she said, explaining how her decision to leave the United States has significantly impacted her family dynamics.
Lohan expressed relief at being free from the constant attention of paparazzi.
“There’s no worry of like, I can’t go eat at this place because someone’s going to take a picture of my son,” she noted, referencing the privacy laws in Dubai, where it is illegal to photograph individuals without their consent.
Describing her newfound sense of security, Lohan stated, “I feel very safe. You can’t take a picture of someone else if you’re at a restaurant. You have to ask the person, which is a big difference. Privacy is key.”
