NOMINATIONS are in for 2015 Cape Amateur Theatre Awards.

Grease presented by the Hottentots Holland Dramatic Society scooped 16 nominations. Nominated are Sumé Lotter and Rory Currin for Artistic Contribution and Technical Excellence; Noel Pitout for Best Costumes; Anne Walsh and Kelly Dorrington for Best Cameo Performance; Megan Verity-Amm; Gareth de Kock, Bronwyn de Beer and Aimee Delport for Most Promising Newcomer; Bronwyn de Beer for Best Supporting Actress in a Play or Musical; James Bone and Michael Dobie for Best Supporting Actor in a Play or Musical; Nicolette Fernandes for Lead Actress in a Play or Musical, Jarred Pitout and Travis Pitout for Lead Actor in a Play or Musical and Darryl Spijkers for Best Director of a Play or Musical.

Claremont Dramatic Society for their Midsummer Night’s Dream production received 14 nominations. Nominated are Bernadette Langeveldt, Gary Fargher and Sheldon Cross for Artistic Contribution and Technical Excellence; Liz Roodt, Tammy Whyte and Santie du Toit-White for Best Costumes; Sheldon Cross and June Edwards for Best Set; Jo Frater for Best Cameo Performance; Mokoena Ramollo and Tahnee Steyn for Most Promising Newcomer; Jana Botha for Lead Actress in a Play or Musical; Willie Blignaut for Lead Actor in a Play or Musical and Sheldon Cross for Best Director in a Play or Musical.

For Gilbert & Sullivan Society The Mikado received 12 nominations. These are for Kristine Berg’s Costumes; Michelle Hough, Jaco Janse van Rensburg and Marco Titus as Most Promising Newcomer; Monika Voysey, Karle Briedenhann and Carmen Kinsey as Best Supporting Actress in a Play or Musical; Peter Kramer and Waldo Buckle as Best Supporting Actor in a Play or Musical; Marco Titus and Simon Speck as Lead Actor in a Play or Musical and Roché Buckle is nominated for Best Director in a Play or Musical.

Steel Magnolias presented by Hottentots Holland Dramatic Society received nine nominations. These are Ramsey Lotter and Darryl Spijkers for Artistic Contribution and Technical Excellence; Zanodean Cassiem for Best Set; Jo Pypers and Helen Morgan as Most Promising Newcomer; Elizabeth James and Jo Pypers as Best Supporting Actress in a Play or Musical; Samantha Taylor as Lead Actress in a Play or Musical and Darryl Spijkers as Best Director in a Play or Musical.

Hope Street The Musical presented by the Masque Theatre Players received eight nominations. These are Rushney Ferguson, Alison King, Skye Blanckenberg and Gary Fargher for Artistic

Contribution and Technical Excellence; Rushney Ferguson and Michelle Galloway for Best Cameo Performance; Stuart Brown for Best Supporting Actor in a Play or Musical and Nawaal Howa is nominated for Lead Actress in a Play or Musical.

The Milnerton Players production of Noises Off received seven nominations. Nigel Sweet is nominated for Best Set; Mark Wilkes for Most Promising Newcomer; Lesley Boxall for Best Supporting Actress in a Play or Musical; Mark Wilkes and Emmanuel Ferreira as Best Supporting Actor in a Play or Musical; James Skilton for Lead Actor in a Play or Musical and Yvonne Copley for Best Director of a Play or Musical.

For The Great Gatsby, Carnivals of the Heart received six nominations. These are for Bradley van Zyl, Currin Pitout and Ashley Pitout for their Artistic Contribution and Technical Excellence; Noel Pitout and Trish Lombard for Best Costumes and Zanodean Cassiem for Best Set.

God of Carnage presented by Milnerton players received three nominations. These are for James King and Anton Shafer as Lead Actor and Andy McPherson as Best Director of a Play or Musical.

Milnerton Players also received three nominations for their production of 39 Steps. These are for Neil Leachman and Leon Hendricks for Artistic Contribution and Technical Excellence and Ross Tirow as Most Promising Newcomer.

Three nominations were also received by Milnerton Players for their production of Honour. These are for Gizelle Willows as Best Supporting Actress in a Play or Musical; Trish Sutton as Lead Actress in a Play or Musical and Brenda Gray is nominated as Best Director for a Play or a Musical.

Muizenberg Dramatic Society (MA DS) has received three nominations for Gas Light. Richard Higgs and Barbara Basel for Best Costumes and Richard Higgs for Best Set.

The Hottentots Holland Dramatic Society’s The Crucible received two nominations. These are for Martin Linette’s Cameo and Bernie Jacob as Lead Actress in a Play or Musical. They also received two nominations for Further Than the Furthest Thing. These are for Lee-Ann Murray as the Most Promising Newcomer and Lead Actress in a Play or Musical. Shané Kleyn has been nominated as Most Promising Newcomer and Lead Actress in a Play or Musical for DQ entertainment’s Agnes of God. Robert Minshall and Leon Hendricks of Milnerton Players received nominations for Artistic Contribution and Technical Excellence in Wait Until Dark. Patrick Jordi received a nomination for Lead Actor in a Play or Musical for his performance in A Day in the Life of Joe Egg presented by Constantia Theatre Players.

Ashleigh van der Hoven has received a nomination as Most Promising Newcomer in Claremont Dramatic Society’s Crimes of the Heart. John McConnell received a nomination as Best Supporting Actor in a Play or Musical in Fish Hoek Dramatic Society’s House Guest.

David Wilke of Pinelands Players received a nomination for Artistic Contribution and Technical Excellence in Shaken Not Stirred. Pamela Burger in Muizenberg Dramatic Society’s Whodunnit? has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Play or a Musical.

The awards ceremony will take place at Milnerton Playhouse on February 15.
