THEY’VE dazzled audiences in theatres across the globe for decades with their feats of magic – now three of the world’s finest illusionists, Max Maven, Paul Wilson and Rob Zabrecky, will transform GrandWest’s Roxy Revue Bar into a magical paradise with the International Stars of Magic show from October 9 to 11 at 8pm.

Hosted by the College of Magic, Cape Town’s only magical arts organisation, International Stars of Magic forms part of the 2015 South African Magic Championships, a triennial event held to select the best magicians nationwide.

The US’s “Mentalist” Maven’s performance has been described as being a “category-defying mind reading show that veers into conceptual art”. Hailed as one of the greatest mind-readers in the world – Maven will leave you questioning what’s real and what’s not – are your thoughts really your own?

UK “Con Artist” Wilson is star of the BBC’s The Real Hustle, he is one of the foremost experts on cons and scams, a master magician, speaker, and authority on the art of deception. Wilson proves that anyone can be conned and that knowledge is the only defence. Don’t miss this incredible glimpse behind a curtain of duplicity.

Zabrecky from the US is “The Deceptionist”. He is two time Stage Magician of the Year from the Magic Castle in Los Angeles, the name means ‘abracadabra sideways’.

With a penchant for the weird and incredible – or a psycho from the twilight zone doing magic – Zabrecky is renowned as a magical humourist who creates an abstract universe that pushes performance to its very edge.

This year The College of Magic celebrates three and a half decades of training. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with GrandWest in presenting artists of this calibre to local audiences in such a commemorative year. Come and experience the very best magic has to offer,” says director David Gore
