Each show is unique, as the actors use audience suggestions to create scenes and stories, with hilarious and surprising results.

Be part of the art of spontaneity as this award winning improv company brings you fresh, compelling and unscripted theatre.

Each show is unique as the actors use audience suggestions to create hilarious and surprising scenes and stories, very similar to the popular TV series, Whose Line is it Anyway.

Improguise has been entertaining South African audiences for over two decades. The company has been recognised for innovation and as an audience favourite by the prestigious Fleur Du Cap theatre awards and has performed at various international festivals, to high acclaim.

The cast includes Megan Furniss, Anne Hirsch, Carolyn Lewis, Tandi Buchan, Brett Fish Anderson, Ryan Jales, Leon Clingman, Ardine Fick, Tarryn Saunders, David Luyt, Candice Van Litsenborgh, Ashley Peter and Hilton Pelser.

The actors undergo rigorous training in storytelling techniques and spontaneity, to keep sparks of creativity constantly flowing. Without a script or plot to guide them, teamwork, inspiration and instinct take centre stage, the pressure and adrenalin high.

In recent years, the company has expanded its range beyond the competitive TheatreSports short scenes and comedy games format, and introduced “long-form” improv, making up full-length plays, documentaries and musicals. They’ve even gone as far as to improvise a 15 hour “Soap-a-thon” in aid of Rape Crisis.

The Galloway Theatre is Cape Town’s newest fringe venue. The intimate 70-seater that was once a chapel, is situated in Port Road. It is surrounded by various eateries on the Foreshore, lower Bree Street and the Waterfront.

Improguise is the theatre's resident act for 2015. Performances run every Monday, from 8pm to 9.15pm.
