CAPE TOWN - A convicted rapist has been arrested over the same offence – this time involving two sisters, aged 24 and 12.

It is alleged that the 32-year-old allegedly raped the sisters multiple times on Friday, September 24, 2021.

Initial reports indicated that the sisters were home alone in their shack in Thokoza Section, Ganyesa, North West, when the accused allegedly knocked on the door, looking for their mother.

The 24-year-old told him their mother was not home.

“The accused then forcefully opened the door, gained entrance into the shack and raped both sisters,” said police spokesperson Adéle Myburgh.

An intensive investigation by the Vryburg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit led to his arrest on September 25.

The rapist appeared briefly in court on September 27. The accused was remanded in custody. He is due back in the Ganyesa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on the two counts of rape.

The incident has left residents of the informal settlement reeling in shock. It comes as the country shines the spotlight on gender-based violence.

North West police commissioner Sello Kwena, condemned the incident, saying the police would not hesitate to bring to book those who committed crimes against women and children.
