The Virgin Active Padel Centre in Paarden Eiland is set to heat up this weekend and will offer the perfect reprieve from the recent storms that have hit the Mother City.

On Saturday, one of the fastest-growing padel sports brands in South Africa, Padel4Good, returns with another instalment of high-octane action, which merges tennis, squash and racquetball, all within 200m².

Padel4Good has spearheaded the growth of the sport in the Western Cape and has played an integral role in social development at the same time as the drive behind these sporting events is to uplift and support women and children at risk in South Africa.

After an epic elite men’s event last month, which saw Luke Potter and partner Josh van Rensburg walk away with the spoils, it is now the ladies’ turn to showcase their skills on the courts as 32 players have entered the 16-team competition.

This leg will cater to ladies with a rating of up to 2.5 on the PlayTomic app, as Padel4Good aims to cater to athletes on all levels. Next month, the brand will host its first double-header event with two events in two days.

Its first ladies’ elite event will take place on August 16 after a men’s event (level 1-2.5).

All proceeds from the Padel4Good events go to various charities and homes across the Western Cape, and earlier this month, Padel4Good, in partnership with Intergro Finance, donated R100 000 to the Eros School in Bridgetown, Cape Town.

Eros School is a long-standing institution in South Africa that caters to learners with cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, special needs and learning disabilities.

Padel enthusiasts keen on participating in Padel4Good competitions are encouraged to come out to watch Saturday’s show and can follow their social media pages for more details on coming events.

This weekend’s event kicks off at 12pm and will run until 3pm.
