Radio personality and self-confessed petrolhead Sagie Moodley has launched his first book entitled Motoring’s Funny Bone. It talks about Moodley’s view on the motoring world in general, but also delves into the technical nitty-gritty of spark plugs, carburettors and tyres - to name a few.

Moodley, who is also this newspaper’s technical correspondent, in his humorous way gives advice on being a first-time car buyer or seller and what to expect; the ins and outs of car insurance; general servicing costs and advice; and your rights as a consumer when tackling dealerships and mechanics.

He also offers his thoughts on why men don’t ask for directions, and gives us the low-down on pimping your ride.

“Cars have often been the catalyst of great moments in life: the first time you drove a car; your first date in dad’s pride and joy; taking your children to their first day of school,” says Moodley.

Motoring’s Funny Bone is priced at R150 and is available from most leading book outlets.
