John Bentley, former editor of Car magazine, and Egmont Sippel, five-times South African Motoring Journalist of the Year, have announced a new monthly magazine title for the South African motoring enthusiast.
It’s called Accelerate, is jointly edited by Bentley and Sippel, and will feature news, reviews, motorsport, and in-depth technical coverage encompassing the full automotive spectrum.
Sippel said: “In a market featuring more and more syndicated overseas material, the new publication will provide a strongly South African take on motoring matters.”
According to Sippel the magazine will be of the highest quality covering a wide variety of topics, presented by the country’s finest motoring writers and visually brought to life by exciting photographs. The magazine will be complemented by a new website - www.acceleratemag.co.za - starting in May.
A SOUTH AFRICAN VOICE
Ex Car magazine techical guru Jake Venter will provide comprehensive analysis of technical matters. The editorial team will be further strengthened by Richard Macaskill, who will also double up as online editor.
Bentley said: “ Accelerate will be very much a South African voice in a market increasingly dominated by imported titles and bought-in stories.
“We’ll be covering vehicles of all types, ranging from the affordable to the unaffordable, the everyday to the exotic.”
Accelerate has kicked off with its April edition and is available countrywide at a cost of R24.95. - Star Motoring
