Durban — One suspect was arrested after a gang of about 13 armed suspects robbed a store inside Musgrave Centre on Friday evening.

Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the complainant reported that the incident happened at 5.45pm on Friday.

“Thirteen males entered a business premises on Musgrave Road and pointed firearms at the staff and customers. They demanded cash, and took cellphones and perfumes before fleeing,” Ngcobo said.

“One suspect was arrested on the N2 southbound.”

Ngcobo added that a case of business robbery was opened at Berea SAPS for investigation.

It is believed that the store that was robbed was Edgars Red Square.

Apparently none none of the staff was harmed, but they were receiving counselling.

It is thought that three vehicles were used in the robbery, and the suspects apparently sped down Musgrave Road towards King Dinuzulu Road.

Last month, Pick n Pay Liquor in the Musgrave Centre was robbed of cash and liquor by five armed men.

Then, police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said a case of business robbery was being investigated by Berea SAPS.

On July 8, 2022, at 2.40pm, a group of armed men entered the business premises situated on Musgrave Road and demanded cash.

They took cash and various types of liquor before fleeing the scene.
