Durban — FNB Connect has revealed that its FNB Connect SIM users who have qualifying FNB and RMB Private Bank accounts have received nearly R300 million in free data and voice minutes in 12 months.

FNB recently launched Hero Deals, allowing customers to save on the latest laptops, tablets, and smartphones from popular brands such as Apple, Samsung and Lenovo, all of which are available through the FNB App Product Shop.

Some of these offerings are bundled with an FNB Connect SIM, which includes monthly data, airtime and SMSes.

According to FNB, the 24-month plans are less expensive than purchasing specified devices in retail stores for cash. It further stated that by swiping to the Connect Shop, customers can access the Hero Deals in the FNB App.

FNB Retail CEO Raj Makanjee said due to the increasing number of individuals and families using FNB Connect, FNB has been recognised as the joint winner of the Digital MVNO of the Year at the Global MVNO Awards.

She stated that FNB Connect was the first mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in SA to use the capabilities of a financial services platform to integrate telecommunications to enable customers to port, maintain and manage their SIM on the FNB App.

“Since then, we have greatly increased our digital offering to democratise access to affordable smart devices, data and airtime packages, thereby narrowing the digital divide. With over six million digitally active customers and billions of digital interactions, we believe FNB Connect provides considerable value for our customers with competitive data and voice packages, access to smart devices at affordable prices and rewards. And all of this is available on our trusted digital platform,” said Makanjee.

FNB Connect CEO Bradwin Roper said FNB Connect recently introduced a wireless LTE data offering that gives customers access to larger data bundles at affordable prices.

Roper said this was introduced to cater for either a single user on a smart device, family or shared usage through a router.

“The growing data demand and sharing of data makes LTE plans a perfect offer with offers starting from as little as R89 for 5GB. Furthermore, we continue to offer flexible month-to-month packages, some of the most competitive data and voice packages in the market, plus additional rewards of free data and voice minutes.

“Our leading unlimited Talk Max offering, where customers generally use about 900 minutes, only costs R325. In the market, this would cost customers about R1 000. Furthermore, FNB customers are also able to use their eBucks to buy airtime,” said Roper.
