Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o has signed on to star in 'Born a Crime', the film adaptation of The Daily Show host Trevor Noah’s bestselling autobiography.
Lupita, who stars as Nakia in Marvel’s record smashing hit film Black Panther, will play Noah’s mother Patricia.
'Born A Crime: Stories From A South African Childhood' was released in 2016. It details Noah’s life with his mother, a woman who embodied resilience, tenacity and bravado as she raised her mixed race child during apartheid in South Africa.
Taking to social media, the Black Panther star shared the exciting news with her followers. Posting an image of herself with the Noah, she wrote:
“When I read Trevor Noah’s ‘Born A Crime,’ I could not put the book down. Excited to announce that I will be starring in and producing its feature film adaptation!”

In response to the announcement, The Daily show host reposted the image on Instagram. He wrote: My mom is a powerful woman who could easily be one of the beautiful soldiers in Wakanda. So it's beyond a perfect fit that she would be portrayed on the big screen by the radiant and regal Lupita Nyong' o. I'm beyond excited."
