Ukhozi FM presenter and Crown Gospel Music Awards founder Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule has died.

She passed away early on Monday morning after battling with lung cancer.

Her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, shared a statement announcing her death.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we the Nkambule and Mbokazi family announce the passing of our beloved Ms Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, founder of Crown Gospel Music Awards & Ukhozi FM radio personality,” read the statement.

“We are grateful for all the prayers, love and support we received throughout her illness. The family would appreciate privacy as we navigate through this challenging time,” he said.

Even though the entrepreneur was diagnosed with lung cancer in May, her illness became apparent in April.

On Sunday, April 21, she failed to host her show, Eshilo on Ukhozi FM. The following Sunday she started her show but struggled to finish. This led to her being rushed to hospital.

She was 52-years-old when she died.

Messages of condolences have already flooded social media.
