South Africa's newest musical duo Keenan x Keanu have released their first single, ‘All I Want’.
The laidback track is a fusion of R&B, hip hop, pop, afropop and amapiano and is inspired by the universal experience of falling in love.
According to Keenan, the inspiration came from the idea that love can happen at any moment.
“‘All I Want’ tells the story of a guy who falls for a girl. He doesn’t care about her background - whether she is rich or poor or where she is from. All he wants is her.”
The brothers, who hail from Cape Town, where previously a part of the musical group, Rude Boys.
During that time, they released two songs on SoundCloud. Keanu, also tried a solo career with his single, “Popped”.
Now the brothers have branched out as a duo.
According to them, they will be focusing on “delivering a fresh and versatile sound to a broader audience.”
Keanu said: “Our sound is diverse, ranging from R&B to trap, rap, and amapiano. We aim to avoid being confined to a single genre and continue to create good, fresh music.”
Their musical journey started at a young age by singing in choirs and performing at concerts under the guidance of their parents, Edward Adams, who is a choir conductor, and Geraldine Adams, a worship team leader.
Drawing inspiration from international artists such as Chris Brown, Lucky Daye, and Drake, Keenan and Keanu, hope to cement their music career by working with both local and international artists, including Nasty C, Bighash, Youngsta CPT, Tyla, Bryson Tiller, and Tory Lanez.
